Pinched nerves are often a sign of a deeper issue. If you have been having stiffness, tightness or discomfort resolving this pinched nerve now is important before it turns into something more painful.
Hi there my name is Dr. Matt Kreinheder from Unwind Chiropractic here in Rochester NY and today I want to share some information with you about pinched nerves.
Now pinched nerves are something that a lot of people suffer from at one point in their life. I want to tell you why it happens and what you can do about it.
First of all why. Posture is a major player for sure. The way that you spend most of the day holding ourselves, whether its at your desk or if you stand and life or any of those things that we may be doing during out day plays a major role in the way our nerves leave our spine and go down into our body. So that can be one of the reasons its going on. You can also have a pinched nerve from an event like a car accident or a slip and fall. The way your body adapts to that experience causes the nerve to pinch and you get that pain, tingling, numbness, pins and needles, whatever it is that you’re experiencing.
Now from my perspective the nervous system is really the major player here. The nervous system is the master control system for the entire body. It controls every single thing in the body. You have nerves going to every single cell except for your blood cells because those are mobile. So when these cells are not getting the right information and they could be muscle cells, they could be in your bones, they could be the connective tissue then they’re going to hold tensions, they’re going to hold patterns, they’re going to hold stress in your system. They will either clamp down or stretch the nerve. That’s when you’re going to feel that pain, numbness, tingling, pins and needles, whatever it is that you’re experiencing.
So what do you do about it, right? The thing that I recommend most often is if it was just a muscle issue you could push on it, massage it and it would go away. If it were just a bone issue you could get the bones lined up and it would start to feel perfect and that’s not always the case. What I’ve seen in my office is that these patterns that I’m mentioning of stress and tension that you’ve been hanging on to most often for a long period of time are really what need to be changed. We need to drop out this overwhelm in our system, these patterns, and let the body start to reboot. Let the body do what it knows how to do which is feel good and be well. We just have to get it the right information. Like I said this is something I’ve seen in my office a number of times and something I’ve helped a bunch of people with and if you have a pinched nerve I would love to help you out.
